Kyler Hooper Car Accident – Obituary Zanesville, Ohio: In Loving Memory Of 25-Year-Old Killed In Muskingum County Crash

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio — A 25-year-old Zanesville man lost his life in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in Falls Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers were dispatched at approximately 2:25 a.m. on August 29, 2026, to County Road 2 near Plantation Drive, where a 2021 Mercedes had crashed after leaving the roadway and striking a tree.

Authorities said the vehicle was traveling northbound on County Road 2 when it went off the right side of the road for reasons that remain under investigation. The Mercedes subsequently collided with a tree, resulting in fatal injuries to one of its occupants.

The victim was identified as Kyler L. Hooper, 25, of Zanesville. Hooper, who was riding as a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Muskingum County Coroner.

Two other occupants survived the crash. The driver, William L. Whyde III, 24, of Dresden, and a second passenger, Hallie D. Kimble, 27, of Nashport, were transported to Genesis Hospital in Zanesville with injuries authorities described as non-life-threatening.

Multiple emergency agencies responded to assist at the scene, including Falls Township EMS and Fire Department, the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office, and Genesis EMS. First responders worked through the early morning hours as investigators documented evidence and cleared the roadway.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to examine the circumstances that led to the crash. Officials have not yet released additional details regarding possible contributing factors, and the investigation remains active.

News of Hooper’s death has saddened family members, friends, and members of the Zanesville community, many of whom are remembering a young man whose life ended far too soon. As loved ones come to terms with the tragedy, tributes and messages of support have begun to emerge, honoring his memory and expressing condolences to those affected by the loss.
