COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 19-year-old man died and two others were injured following a two-vehicle collision Friday night in west Columbus, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

Officers responded shortly before 11:10 p.m. to the intersection of Roberts Road and Potts Place after receiving reports of a serious crash involving a Honda Civic and a Dodge Durango.

Preliminary findings indicate that the Honda Civic was traveling westbound on Roberts Road and was attempting to turn south onto Potts Place when it entered the path of an eastbound Dodge Durango. The two vehicles collided in the intersection, resulting in significant damage and multiple injuries.

Authorities identified the deceased victim as Aaden Owen Elswick, 19. Emergency medical personnel transported Elswick to Riverside Methodist Hospital, where he later succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

Two additional individuals were injured and received medical treatment. Police have not released details regarding the extent of their injuries.

Investigators have also not yet confirmed which vehicle Elswick was occupying at the time of the collision or whether he was driving or riding as a passenger.

The crash prompted the temporary closure of Roberts Road between Walcutt Road and Hilliard Rome Road as officers processed the scene, documented evidence, and worked to determine the circumstances leading up to the collision. The roadway has since reopened to traffic.
