CLAY COUNTY, W.Va. — Two young boys were killed and another child was critically injured following a tragic vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Clay County, according to the West Virginia State Police.
The collision occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. along Clay Highway near the Indore Post Office, where authorities say an SUV left the roadway and crashed into the rear of an unoccupied loader.
State police reported that two passengers in the SUV, identified as boys ages 7 and 13, both from Indore, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third child was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later reported to be in critical but stable condition.
The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was taken for medical treatment while also assisting investigators with the ongoing inquiry into the crash.
According to authorities, all occupants of the SUV were family members of the driver.
