A domestic dispute in Cherokee County, Georgia, led to a stabbing incident Thursday afternoon, leaving two individuals injured and prompting an ongoing investigation by local authorities.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. in the parking lot of a Chick-fil-A on Highway 92 near Interstate 75.
Deputies said the altercation involved a mother and her daughter, both of whom sustained injuries during the confrontation.
Following the incident, the mother ran inside the restaurant, where Acworth Police officers who were already present assisted her until emergency medical personnel arrived.
She was subsequently transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment. Information about the extent of her injuries was not immediately released.
The daughter left the scene in a vehicle with two children and traveled north on the interstate.
Authorities were able to locate the daughter using automated license plate reader technology.
She was later stopped in Whitfield County during a felony traffic stop. Officials confirmed that the two children who were inside the vehicle were not injured.
The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office assisted local authorities during the response. Traffic in the area of the traffic stop was temporarily affected but has since returned to normal.
The Chick-fil-A location where the incident occurred was closed for the remainder of the evening as authorities continued their investigation.
