GIBSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a devastating single-vehicle crash that claimed the lives of an entire family of four Saturday morning in Susquehanna County.
Troopers were dispatched at approximately 10:16 a.m. to the area of 1365 Rock Mountain Drive following reports of a one-vehicle crash. Upon arriving at the scene, first responders discovered a sedan that had come to rest approximately 60 feet down a steep embankment off the roadway.
Authorities identified the victims as Peter Thatcher, 45, Sandra Thatcher, 45, Noah Thatcher, 11, and Layla Thatcher, 10, all of Tunkhannock. The family was found inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency personnel from multiple fire departments and EMS agencies responded to assist, while the Susquehanna County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene as part of the investigation and recovery efforts.
