JOPLIN, Mo. — A 21-year-old Joplin man has died following a motorcycle crash Wednesday night on one of the city’s busiest roadways, according to the Joplin Police Department.
Authorities identified the victim as Benjamin Hedrick, who succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision that occurred on August 26, 2026.
Police said officers responded to the 3300 block of Range Line Road at approximately 9:50 p.m. after receiving reports of a serious traffic crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck.
Preliminary findings indicate that Hedrick was traveling northbound on his motorcycle when it collided with a pickup truck that was entering Range Line Road from a private drive and attempting to make a left turn.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and provided medical assistance before Hedrick was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Despite efforts by medical staff to save him, Hedrick later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
According to investigators, the driver and passenger of the pickup truck were not injured.
The fatal collision has left family members, friends, and members of the Joplin community mourning the loss of a young man whose life ended far too soon.
