Martin Anns Obituary – Cause of Death: In Loving Memory Of Martin Anns, 3-time National Champion Racing Champion

The motorsport community is in mourning following the news of the passing of a true racing legend, Martin Anns. A three-time National Champion, Martin was a force to be reckoned with on the track, earning the nickname “The Flying Undertaker” for his ability to sweep through the competition with precision and speed.

Martin’s legacy was defined by his versatility; he was a top-level racer in every car and every class he entered. His journey to greatness began in earnest during the early 1980s. Racing as “Pinkie” for Bredon Hill, he reached the pinnacle of the sport by securing the 1981 National title in Class 9.

In 1982, Martin made the move to race for the Stroud & District club. While he remained a perennial front-runner for years, it wasn’t until 1994 that he returned to the ultimate winner’s circle. In a display of sheer dominance, he steered the ex-Allanson direct drive Chevy to a breathtaking National victory. He proved that his talent was no flash in the pan by following that win with his third National title just one year later.

Beyond his signature rides, Martin was a master of many disciplines, frequently mixing it with the elite in Class 7. His passion for the sport remained evident until the end of his competitive years, with his beautiful Harvey Motorsport Toyota Class 9 being one of his final cherished machines.

Beyond the trophies and the checkered flags, Martin was remembered as an incredible character—a man who was as highly respected for his personality as he was for his driving skill. While he will be deeply missed, his racing bloodline continues. His great-niece, Aby-Jayde Bennett, carries the family torch, and we have no doubt she will continue to make him proud.
