Jacob Dolat Westfield, MA Obituary – Cause of Death: The Southwick Inn Mourn Loss Of Beloved Chef

After a courageous and hard-fought battle with jaw cancer, and navigating the immense challenges of its aftermath, we find solace in knowing that Jacob “Jakey” Dolat is finally at peace. While our hearts are heavy, we choose to celebrate a life lived with immense flavor, vibrant color, and an unmistakable spirit.

To many, Jakey was our chef, but to the family at The Southwick Inn, he was so much more. He was a cornerstone of our community—a man whose presence was as eclectic and wonderful as the patterns on his chef pants. Whether he was sporting a mop on his head to lighten the mood or displaying his hilariously grumpy (yet undeniably cheeky) disposition, Jakey brought a unique energy to our halls that can never be replaced.

A lover of the Grateful Dead and a devoted guardian to his beloved kitty “girls,” Tito and Cranberry, Jakey lived life on his own terms. If you ever stepped near the kitchen and heard the spirited shouts of “HOUSE BAND,” “WATER BREAK,” or “DUA LIPA,” you weren’t just hearing kitchen shorthand; you were witnessing Jakey at his absolute finest, pouring his soul into the rhythm of the service.

As a classically trained culinary artist, Jakey possessed the rare gift of blending technical mastery with pure, unadulterated creativity. He didn’t just cook; he crafted timeless dishes infused with his own unique twist. He put his entire heart into every plate, driven by an unmatched passion for providing sustenance and joy to others.

Though he is no longer at the helm, Jakey’s legacy remains. It lives on in the memories of those he made laugh and, most importantly, in the countless people he nourished through his art. He fed our bodies and our souls, and for that, we are eternally grateful.
