FENTON, Mich. — A 56-year-old Linden woman died Friday night after being struck by a Canadian National freight train near the Poplar Street railroad crossing in Fenton, according to local authorities.
The victim has been identified as Cynthia Susanne Prince, 56, of Linden.
According to the Fenton Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 9:35 p.m. on Aug. 21, 2026, to the railroad tracks near the Poplar Street crossing following reports of a pedestrian who had been struck by a westbound Canadian National train.
When officers arrived at the scene, they located Prince and immediately began lifesaving efforts. Despite those attempts, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident prompted a response from multiple law enforcement and emergency agencies. Assisting the Fenton Police Department were the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, Flint Township Police Department, and the Fenton Fire Department.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the collision. Investigators continue to work to determine exactly what occurred prior to the train striking Prince.
