He began his journey years ago at Pronger Smith Medical Care and most recently practiced at Silver Cross Hospital and throughout the Palos community. Specializing in sports medicine and joint replacement, he restored mobility and hope to countless individuals.
His own journey was one of remarkable determination and cross-cultural connection. Born in Colombia, South America, Dr. Fuentes grew up and attended high school in Chicago before his family relocated back to Colombia. There, he earned his medical degree from the University of Cartagena. He returned to Chicago to complete his orthopedic surgery residency at the renowned Cook County Hospital and University of Illinois at Chicago, followed by a sports medicine fellowship at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
This unique path forged a physician of exceptional empathy and communication. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Fuentes could seamlessly care for a wide demographic. His practice philosophy was deeply patient-centered; he believed in thoroughly discussing all options and empowering his patients to choose their own path to healing.
