Allison Rahmani, 40, of Hewlett Bay Park, New York, has died following a tragic vehicle accident at her home, leaving family members, friends, neighbors, colleagues, and members of the local Jewish community mourning the loss of a beloved mother and educator.
According to reports from The Yeshiva World, Rahmani was behind the wheel of a 2023 GMC in the driveway of her home on Elinor Road at approximately 9:30 a.m. Friday when the vehicle suddenly went out of control. The circumstances that caused her to lose control remain a matter for authorities to determine.
The vehicle reportedly struck a tree before hitting a parked and unoccupied 2006 Honda. The GMC then continued forward and plunged into the home’s inground swimming pool. Images from the scene showed the seriousness of the crash, with the front portion of the vehicle submerged in the water while the rear remained above the pool. Reports indicated that all four tires were off the ground.
Rahmani was removed from the vehicle before first responders arrived at the scene. Once Nassau County police officers reached the location, they immediately began life-saving measures. Despite those efforts, Rahmani was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Her sudden passing has left those who knew her struggling to understand the heartbreaking circumstances. At just 40 years old, Rahmani was a mother of four and a teacher who had devoted herself to educating and supporting young people.
Rahmani was a teacher at the Hebrew Academy of Five Towns and Rockaway, also known as HAFTR. The school community knew her as an educator whose work was connected to the lives of students and families in the Five Towns and surrounding areas. Her loss is therefore being felt not only by her immediate family but also by colleagues, students, parents, and others who encountered her through the school.
Her death was also confirmed by Irving Place Minyan, a Modern Orthodox synagogue with which the Rahmani family was closely connected. Her husband, Matthew Rahmani, serves as president of the synagogue. The confirmation of Allison’s identity and passing brought further grief to a community already coming to terms with the devastating news.
